The neckline is asymmetric rather than level, which is what stops the shape reading as a straight tube, and the straps are fixed rather than adjustable, so the line stays where it was designed to sit. An elastic waistband at the back draws the dress in without a belt, and an invisible zip at the side does the closing. A split at the back releases the skirt when you walk. The dress is partially lined.
Linen and a maxi length belong together in heat, so treat this as the dress for the part of the day when nothing should cling. It reads right at a garden party, and just as right on a sandy walk at sunset with a flat sandal and nothing else.
